Sowing your own is inexpensive and very rewarding. We stock the complete flower seed range of Van Hemert & Co, a Dutch plant breeder and seed merchant established in 1876. Practical

Arranging, positioning & care

Practical tips to help you get the most out of your choice.

Arranging tips

  • Mix tall and short varieties for a natural, romantic border effect.

Position & placement

  • Most annual seeds germinate best in a sunny, sheltered spot.
  • Flower bulbs are a seasonal product: we sell them from September to December, in time to get them into the ground before the frost.

Care tips

  • Only sow outdoors after the Ice Saints (mid-May), when the risk of night frost has passed.
  • Thin out seedlings in good time; sowing too densely produces weak, pale plants.
